Rosewater Connection is a mental health initiative that serves BGC Saskatoon.
Why Mental Health Matters
BGC Saskatoon understands that to live our core values and work towards our vision and mission, we need to provide a safe and supportive environment where people can access opportunities for their physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, and social wellbeing. These opportunities help to build resilience and improved mental health & wellbeing.
The Significance of Rosewater
Rosewater is proven to help balance the mind, heart, and emotions. This balance, without intervention, is often difficult to maintain for most people. Research shows that successful intervention is professional mental health support.
Our Observations & Commitment
We see our children, youth, parents and staff struggling with their mental health and we need to provide them with the support they need to ease their journey. These journeys, that they are each uniquely facing, with mental health support, will lead to a place where their mental health is a part of them, rather than who they are.
We know that mental health support is integral to quality of life and that time is of the “essence”. We need Rosewater, in the form of mental health support, to connect with those who need it most; hence, Rosewater Connection.
The Essence of Timely Support
BGC Saskatoon provides programs and services to many children, youth and families and we support those who need us most. Those who need us most are families struggling to meet their basic needs, such as food and shelter, and mental health support is a luxury they cannot afford. If they cannot afford professional help, they are on waiting lists for months and many times over a year (pre-COVID-19 access was tough, during COVID-19 it has been pretty much impossible). Timely access to mental health support is imperative to their physical and mental wellbeing. Rosewater Connection provides the intervention needed to help those who are suffering.
Our Valued Partnership
BGC Saskatoon partners with The Shift Counselling Services and Treehouse Child and Youth Counselling to provide professional mental health services and support through education, knowledge, stigma reduction, group training and group or individual sessions for our children, youth, families and employees.
