Youth Programs

Core Neighbourhood Club

Core Neighbourhood Club is designed for youth ages 15 and up. It is run in partnership with Core Neighbourhood Youth Co-op and Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.  This program is provided at no cost to participants.

Having a safe place to be where youth are exposed to new opportunities and positive adult role models is very important in the healthy development of youth. Programming is participant driven and based on our Vision and Mission, Core Values, and Model for Success.

In the morning, youth are attending a High School credit class and then attending our programming which includes life skills, wellness, physical activity, employability skill development, cultural activities, homework help etc. The programming is flexible to meet the needs of the youth attending. Youth attending our “class”/program time earn an elective High School credit through Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.

Through hands-on learning opportunities, a specific focus on personal interests, goals, and supportive relationships with mentors and volunteers, young people are given the skills and tools they need to be successful in school, work, and life.

For registration information, please contact the program directly.

Youth Employment Readiness Program

Applications for the 2026 Youth Employment Readiness Program will open in mid to late June 2026 – please watch our socials or check back here for updated information once it is available.

The Summer Youth Employment-Readiness Program at BGC Saskatoon is designed to help youth build confidence, develop practical skills, and explore future employment pathways in a supportive, structured environment for youth ages 12-18 years old.

The Youth Employment Readiness Program is an employment skills development initiative, not a traditional employment program. It is part of BGC Saskatoon’s broader commitment to equipping young people with the tools they need to succeed in school, work, and life.

Participants engage in hands-on experiences that focus on:

  • Workplace readiness and professional behaviour
  • Communication and teamwork skills
  • Time management and personal responsibility

Through mentorship and supervision with BGC Saskatoon employees, youth gain valuable work experience that prepares them for future employment opportunities.

Program Participation and Stipend
Youth enrolled in the program receive a program participation stipend. This stipend is intended to recognize their time, effort, and commitment to learning.

  • The stipend is calculated based on the provincial minimum wage
  • The total reflects the number of hours spent actively participating in the program

Participation Agreement
All participants, along with their parent or guardian, are required to sign a Program Participation Agreement prior to the start of the program.  This ensures that all parties clearly understand the intent of the program as a skill-building and readiness experience.

This agreement outlines:

  • The focus of the program
  • Expectations for attendance, engagement, and conduct
  • The structure and purpose of the program participation stipend

Selected youth will experience the interview process and successful candidates will gain work experience with BGC Saskatoon employees at the Saskatoon Exhibition as part of the “Clean Up Crew”.  Youth will be paid a stipend representing minimum wage for the mandatory training session held prior to the start of the Saskatoon Exhibition for hours completed within the program.

At the Saskatoon Exhibition, the youth will clean the pedestrian walkways, parking lots and the grandstand at the park under the supervision and guidance of BGC Saskatoon employees. BGC Saskatoon has had a long term partnership with the Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation to do the job and we accept approximately 60-70 youth every summer.

This opportunity for them to work in a well supervised, supportive environment where they will learn what is expected of them in a job setting.  After completion of the program, youth will have a reference for future employment opportunities.

We appreciate the time and effort all applicants put into their applications; however, due to the limited number of position in the program available, we regret that we cannot accommodate everyone who applies.
